How Is Ant Yapı UK Championing Considerate Construction?

At Ant Yapı UK, the luxury apartments and landmark regeneration schemes we deliver are only half the story. We are equally driven by the impact our works have on neighbours, the environment and—above all—the people who build them. That commitment has seen our Programme Coordinator Mehmet Can Aytek’s inclusion in the CCS “30 Under 30” list—a proud moment for the whole team.

What is the Considerate Constructors Scheme?

The CCS is an independent, not-for-profit initiative that raises standards across UK construction. Sites are scored against a Code of Considerate Practice built around three pillars:

  • Respecting the Community – minimising disruption and being a good neighbour

  • Caring for the Environment – cutting waste, energy and carbon

  • Valuing the Workforce – safeguarding, supporting and including everyone on site

This external benchmarking lets us test our own Responsible Business targets—and push them further.

A quick chat with Ahmet Okay, Business Development Manager:

“Considerate construction isn’t a bolt-on for us; it’s woven into every RAMS, induction and design decision. Recognition from CCS just tells us we’re on the right track.”

What pushes the team over the line to achieve top marks?

All of our UK Projects are registered under the latest CCS guidance, and we structured the build programmes so that every package contractor signed up to the same standards. Daily neighbourhood briefings, low-impact logistics plans and a carbon-tracked plant register helped us stand out. (DETAILS)

Our team helped refurbish and fix up the Caxton Youth Organisation in Victoria London.

Ant Yapı UK’s scores keep improving. What’s changed?

Arif Aktas - our construction manager ensures that our internal processes mirror the CCS pillars. He is responsible for waste management, energy and social-values and flag gaps in real time. His dedication has made meeting—and beating—CCS benchmarks part of our internal culture.

Which site initiatives are you most proud of right now?

  • Mental-Health Checks – free on-site mental health assessments, inspired by the MIND charities checklist.

  • BREEAM-aligned resource management – energy sub-metering, dusk-to-dawn LED control and potable-water monitoring across live plots.

  • Ant Yapi’s waste management systems (SWMP) designed to minimise landfill and maximise recycling of materials alongside our 0% Carbon Strategy Plan.

Local Workers Initiative ensuring both us as main contractors and our subcontractors hire local workers wherever our sites are located, strengthening direct community engagement.

And outside the hoardings?

Community engagement is non-negotiable:

  • Leas Pavilion T-Level workshops – our SHEQ team welcomed Folkestone College students for hands-on learning about sequencing and problem-solving on a constrained heritage site. LinkedIn

  • Wild-Habitat Days – staff helped install bird and bat boxes in Bayswater, echoing the biodiversity net-gain targets we set for our projects.

  • Charity partnerships – employees cycled, ran and walked to raise over £50k for Lighthouse Club and local food-bank networks.

The hobby garden at Chelsea Barracks - A place for Ant Yapi team members and sub-contractors to relax in and tend to.

What’s next for the Ant Yapi team?

We’re piloting a legacy-first approach on Chelsea Barracks—committing to apprenticeships that outlast the build—as well as mapping our whole UK portfolio against Science-Based Targets for carbon. And, of course, we’ll be at the CCS Gala in November; win or lose, the benchmark we care about is our 2025 goal of ‘Outstanding’ scores on every live site.

“Considerate construction isn’t a finish-line; it’s continuous improvement for the benefit of everyone who lives, works or walks past our projects.” – Ahmet Okay Business Development Manager

Whether we’re restoring Victorian landmarks or pushing the skyline higher, Ant Yapı UK is determined to leave every site—and every community—better than we found it.
